What aspects do both extracts share? What are the major differences between them?
Also try to explain what elements from these will you apply to your own work, explain how and why.

Aspects shared between both extracts:
-Voice of God narration.
-Filmed footage.

The Main differences:
-all filmed footage.
-Fly-on-the-Wall elements.
-vox pops and interviews in an outside settings.

I will apply a few of these elements to my own work. I will use Voice Of God narration; to explain my point and to aid the audiences' understanding. I will use archive footage; as the topic I am concentrating on will not really allow me to film my own footage, as the main bulk of my documentary.

The similarities between the two documentary clips are:
-Voice of God, narration
-Real life footage
-Facts

The differences between the two are:
-The interviews used in Blackpool pleasure beach
-The observational approach of Blackpool pleasure beach with use of the camera watching and following different groups and events happening.
-the elements of film in Pompeii.

I will apply elements of the voice of god, interviews and the facts given into my own documentary as this will help make the documentary realistic and believable to the audience. I will also use real life footage in my documentary as this will back up the opinion I am trying to give with evidence.

This documentary shared the following conventions with the Pompeii documentary:

Both have Voice Over (Voice of God)
Both have modern day footage
Both have a central aim and point they want to get across to the public

The main differences between the two documentaries is:

One is observational, one is drama documentary
This one contains interviews, the Pompeii one doesn't
This one is all modern day real footage, he Pompeii one is mainly reconstructions of an old previous event

From this documentary, I would like to se personal interviews and some observational footage. I would also like to use voice overs and have a main aim.
From the Pompeii documentary, i would like to apply the use of facts and music to set the tone.

The following documentary is a observational type. This is very effective in this documentary because of what it is showing to the audience.

Aspects that are the same:

.They both have voice of god narration,
.Both consist if real footage,
.Both consist of small scenes tat interlink and have more than one story being told.

Aspects of the documentaries that are different:

.This documentary is an observational documentary whereas the Pompeii documentary was drama.
.This documentary consisted of one to one interviews about the subjects raised in the documentary,
.This documentary consisted of all real life footage where a Pompeii had elements of non-fiction combined with reconstruction

I would want to use the elements of reconstruction and non-fiction in my drama as i believe that this is a very effective way to engage the audience into a documentary. Also i would want to use elements of interviews because i believe that this method puts across a stronger point of view.

Differences:

This footage:

uses non-fiction footage.

Voice of god not always in use.

Not a typical documentary, more story than fact.

similarities:

Both allow you to follow a story of events.

Pompeii Documentary and Blackpool pleasure beach.

Similarities:

-Voice of god narration.
-Filmed footage.
-Facts supplied by narration.
-neither had a filmmaker or character present asking questions.

Differences:

-Pompeii had reenactments, pleasure beach did not.
-interviews were shown in the pleasure beach doc.
-Blackpool was an observational doc. where the Pompeii was a drama documentary.
-Pompeii was filmed in the style of a tv drama or film.

In my documentary i will try to use some of the elements which are present in the two documentaries, for example i will use the voice of god narration that is used, i will also include interviews to show how peoples opinions reflect on the matter i am looking at. Unlike in these two documentaries i will make the film maker present so its will become a personal documentary rather than an observational.

Simular-
Voice of God

Different-
This has interviews with real people based on their opionions and experiences

This has set ups, however they are not over dramatised and based around real life.
The second is more relatable to people whereas the first was almost so unrealist and dramatised it was like a film

I want my doc to have a voice of god as it helps move the narrative along and provides a opinion the audience are likely to believe/listen too.

I would also like to try to include arhive footage or photographs were possible.

It would be difficult to film set ups due to the natural of the material in my question.
